The H.L.C.A is involved in helping to preserve the natural beauty of Higgins Lake and to keep it environmentally sound. Therefore, we want you to know as much as possible about environmental items that directly effect the lake and its future. We ALL have a responsability to know as much about invasive plants and animals that can have a negative effect on the lake. ********** What you should know ********** 1. Boaters should learn to identify invasive species that they may encounter and take precautions to prevent the spread of these species. 2. Some of the actions include: > Removing all visible invasive species by power washing your boat and trailer before launching the vessel and when removing it from the lake. > Dispose of live bait in the trash, not in the water. > Draining live wells and all water from boats before leaving the access areas. > Allow your boat to dry 10 days before launching it in another body of water. 3. At various access locations around Higgins Lake there are disposal tubes for unwanted fishing line and artificial baits. These disposal tubes are donated by the Higgins Lake Civic Association and installed in cooperation with the local townships. PLEASE HELP THE H.L.C.A. EFFORTS TO KEEP HIGGINS LAKE ENVIRONMENTALLY SOUND. WE'RE PROUD THAT HIGGINS LAKE IS KNOWN AS....." The 6th. most beautiful lake in the world ". PLEASE DO YOUR PART TO SUPPORT OUR EFFORTS. Thank you!H.L.C.A. Board of Directors. ******NOTE: These disposal tubes are NOT for trash in general. They are ONLY for unwanted fishing line and artificial baits.
