Community Action
The HLCA serves the Higgins Lake area with an outreach to interested parties who are willing to volunteer their support by assisting us in efforts to keep the Higgins Lake area environmentally clean. The HLCA is participating in the Pure Michigan Adopt-a-Highway program. We urge volunteers to come forward and participate in some or all of the annual pick-up events. Volunteers will be requested several weeks prior to these events.
Twenty volunteers are requested to assist during each pick-up, covering a 2 mile stretch of US-127 near the northwest side of Higgins Lake. A map details the HLCA Adopt-a-Highway assignment area. A two-hour time period is planned for each clean-up, normally scheduled on a Saturday morning.
